Charles Lodriguss, CFP, FIC
Financial Consultant
Harvey, Louisiana
Mid-South Region
With Charles Lodriguss' tenacity, little stands in his way of success.
Charles was introduced to this career by his pastor at the time, the Rev. Floyd Duff. When financial representative Don Knoernschild met with Pastor Floyd about the qualifications to be a rep, the pastor knew Charles had what it takes to succeed and recommended him for an open position.
It was the late 1980s when Charles was looking into a career in financial services, and the state of Louisiana had fallen on economically hard times. Concerned friends and family members tried to talk him out of entering the industry in such a tumultuous economic climate. However, as Charles puts it, "If I had listened to them, I wouldn't be where I am today."
Don also saw a gleam of determination in Charles' eyes and encouraged him as a mentor in Charles' early years. They have now developed a valuable long-time friendship. In fact, Charles' advice to any new financial representative would be to seek a mentor. Charles also recommends pursuing education through licenses and advanced designations as the best way to keep up with the ever-changing industry.
Throughout his career, Charles has overcome some tough obstacles; however, no one foresaw how much damage Hurricane Katrina would bring to Louisiana. The aftermath of the hurricane was overwhelming, but Charles' tenacity held strong. And he used his never-give-up attitude to reconnect with friends and family, repair his home and rebuild his business. "Whenever I get discouraged, I remember life is like golf-I can't close my eyes and swing," says Charles. "I must stay focused on what I'm doing."
Charles lives in Gretna, La. He has one daughter, Ana-Alicia, and one son, Andrew. In his leisure, Charles enjoys volunteering at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algiers, La., as well as golfing and fishing.
