Financial Consultant
Concord Ohio
Ohio Region
Sometimes, the impact a financial representatives have on the lives of their members sometimes is unclear-but Jeff Shinabery is amazed at the impact he continues to have.
During a1999 field conference, Jeff sat in a full house with his wife, Tammy. The speaker that morning told a story of a member from Wisconsin. The member told the speaker about her husband who was sick years earlier, her young son, and how her financial representative helped her through that time. Halfway through the story, Jeff leaned over to his wife and whispered the name of a member whom he had helped in a similar situation years earlier. As the story progressed, Jeff realized that the speaker was indeed talking about the member whom he had helped seven years earlier. Jeff still recalls this as one of the most meaningful moments of his career and adds, "to think that I had that kind of impact is incredible."
Clearly, making a difference in his members' lives is Jeff's most meaningful professional accomplishment. The journey down the Thrivent Financial path began in 1987, when his financial representative tried to recruit Jeff's wife, Tammy, to be a part-time representative. Tammy never joined as a representative but works with Jeff at the office of the Northeast Ohio Group as an office administrator alongside their son, Adam, a licensed office professional.
Jeff also has a passion for the outdoors that began as a young camper and Boy Scout-a tradition he passed along and maintained with his two sons, Adam and Ben. Currently, Jeff and Tammy live in Concord, Ohio where he volunteers as an interpretive guide at the Holden Arboretum, one of the largest arboretums in the country.
