Watch a 3-minute informational video to learn more about Heartwood.
You’re invited to discover Heartwood Conference Center & Retreat and experience the natural beauty and splendor of northwest Wisconsin. Whether for a productive conference or meeting, or a relaxing private getaway, you’ll find the serenity of Heartwood inviting and renewing.

Heartwood was purchased in October 2005 by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans to carry out and complement the organization’s mission, demonstrating its core values in a unique and different way. Heartwood is an experience of togetherness, learning, leisure, renewal, celebration, and overall wellness for the benefit of Thrivent Financial members, the Lutheran community and nonprofit organizations in the Twin Cities and Fox Cities.

Located in Trego, Wisconsin, Heartwood is approximately 120 miles northeast of Minneapolis. Travel directions to Heartwood may be found on the Heartwood Web site - http://www.heartwoodconferencecenter.com/findus.htm

The 700-acre northwoods property features two private lakes and frontage on the Namekagon River, a national scenic waterway. Heartwood can comfortably accommodate guests in:

  • Five two-bedroom lakeside cottages that sleep up to 6 people.
  • Thirty-two hotel-type guestrooms (with lake view), each with 2 queen-size beds.
  • Ten duplex units that each sleep up to 14 people.
In addition, there are two large and centralized lodge facilities for group food service and meeting space, offering high-speed DSL and wireless Internet connectivity. All the buildings have been built within the past seven years except for the cottages, which have been renovated recently. The lodging and meeting space at Heartwood can meet the needs of many different types of groups.  Heartwood’s natural setting is perfect for corporate and church meetings and retreats, as well as family reunions, celebrations, weddings, personal vacations, and more.

Heartwood in the Summer and Fall

Heartwood in the Summer and Fall
At Heartwood, you can enjoy the endless fun of summer while experiencing a group event venue and services that will exceed your expectations. Summer is the perfect time to get away from the ordinary and add outdoor fun to your plans. It’s also a great time to make reservations for your next planning retreat or family vacation at Heartwood. Try your hand at fishing Heartwood’s Hoinville Lake or one of hundreds of other area lakes and waterways. Consider a shuttle canoe trip on the nationally protected Namekagon River or play a game of sand volleyball. Enjoy swimming at the beach or a game of bocce ball. Heartwood has 700 acres for your enjoyment.

Fall is the ideal time to take a break from your everyday stresses to enjoy the scenic walking/biking trails, watch wildlife at play, paddle around the lake or simply kick back and soak in autumn’s beauty
