Caring for a parent or loved one who is in poor health can be a lonely journey that can tax one's spirit, increase negative emotions and even lead to despair.
Caregivers often come to a point where they need to reach out, searching for help.
One source of help many caregivers turn to is their faith. Contemplation in quiet prayer can connect us when we feel disconnected.
Reading scripture can let us know God is with us today just as He has been with others throughout generations past. In God's word, the Bible, we learn about sorrow and distress as well as thanksgiving and salvation. God offers even the most troubled caregiver the opportunity for comfort and solace.
Each caregiver can find comfort in the words of Jesus: "come to me all you who are weary and find life burdensome and I will refresh you." - Matthew 11:28.
Caregiving will tire you physically. It also may wear down your emotions. And, your spirit also may be taxed.
Emotions such as anger, frustration, fear and uncertainty may plague you.
Each caregiver needs to take time to pray, to read scripture and to find the light he or she needs in life.
Your faith can offer you the resilience, the armor of strength, you need to keep going and to continue offering the quality care only you can give to your parent or loved one.
