Frequently asked questions
What is a Habitat & Thrivent Worldwide build?
Habitat and Thrivent Worldwide is a weeklong volunteer experience. Volunteer groups partner with local communities, building or improving homes to meet livability and safety standards as part of Habitat’s vision where everyone has a decent place to live. Thrivent’s contributions help offset the program cost and host donation for all participants – making our volunteer program more affordable for all participants. No special skills are required.
How are the locations for Habitat & Thrivent Worldwide builds selected?
Habitat and Thrivent Worldwide builds only travel to country and affiliate offices that meet Habitat for Humanity International's Global Village program standards, focusing on areas where help is needed and where Thrivent can significantly impact building capacity for a Habitat country or affiliate office.
Is there an age limit for participants?
Habitat and Thrivent Worldwide requires volunteers to be 18 or older. Team leaders must be at least 24 years old.
Do I need homebuilding experience or the ability to speak another language?
Affiliate partners and host countries provide all training onsite, so previous construction experience or fluency in a second language is not required. All you need is a generous heart and a desire to make a difference.
