Regional leadership
The Thrivent Member Network regional board is made up of Thrivent clients with membership. The board provides leadership and strategic insights to help carry out Thrivent's mission on a local level. Clients with membership can have a voice by voting in the elections for the Thrivent Member Network board.
Voss is a life-long client with membership. The recently retired CFO / COO of Ally Corporate Finance, a business unit within Ally Bank, transferred to the Great Lakes Regional Board from the Northeast Regional Board in 2017. “I fully support the Thrivent mission of strengthening communities by helping people to be wise with money and live generously. I am excited to be working with the other board members and leaders to further Thrivent’s mission in the region.”
McKenna has extensive experience working for a company that advocates for Biblical business practices. The chaplain and executive director of American Industrial, an industrial control service company, is looking forward to working alongside other servant leaders in supporting Thrivent's mission.
Behring has been a Thrivent client with membership since birth – more than 75 years. The retired consultant/trainer to businesses and nonprofits hopes to put his years and experience to good use, offering strategic assessments and insight into increasing Thrivent engagement across Christian communities.
Emilia Gutierrez is the President & CEO of Do-All, Inc. She has been with Do-All, Inc. for the past six years & became the CEO in 2020. She earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from The University of Michigan in 2015 with a special concentration on Management of Human Services and Interpersonal Practice. Emilia’s previous positions include Adjunct Professor of Social Work at SVSU, Child Welfare Worker with DHHS, & Child & Family Therapist at Shelterhouse in Midland and Gladwin Counties. Emilia is a graduate of the Great Lakes Bay Hispanic Leadership Institute Class of 2021 & a proud member of the Bay City BNI chapter. She enjoys camping, traveling, and hiking with her two daughters & husband.
Sullivan is the Principal Consultant at Forerunner Consulting. He is interested in bringing a fresh perspective and support to our impact in the community while learning from the previous leadership, and building on their progress together. "I hope to add value to the work of the Thrivent Great Lakes Board from my professional, community, and ministerial experience."
Our leaders work in the best interest of our membership––not third-party shareholders, like publicly traded companies. Clients with a benefit membership can vote in the annual election for the Thrivent Board of Directors. As the organization’s supreme governing body, the board focuses on serving the interests of the membership, both now and into the future. The board establishes and promotes Thrivent’s purpose and oversees major business decisions, and works with leadership to assess and manage risk.
