Regional leadership
The Thrivent Member Network regional board is made up of Thrivent clients with membership. The board provides leadership and strategic insights to help carry out Thrivent's mission on a local level. Clients with membership can have a voice by voting in the elections for the Thrivent Member Network board.
The Rev. Brenda D. White has been the Pastor of the Allen AME Church in Baltimore, MD since 2006. A Thrivent Member for over a decade, she seeks to learn and pass on best philanthropic practices which empower everyday people to self-advocate for the wellbeing of the communities they call home. As a regional board member, Pastor Brenda hopes to inspire others to value their ideas and implement sustainable solutions for community growth and development.
A community pharmacist for over 45 years, Brescia has always been active in the lives of his patients. From caring for their needs and providing medical advice, to lending an understanding ear, he’s felt compelled to serve and support those in need.

Don Johnson has been the Executive Director of Lutheran Outdoor Ministries (LOM) since 2015. He is an Associate in Ministry (Deacon) in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and has been involved in a number of local, regional, and national faith-based organizations. A member of Thrivent and one of its predecessors for over 50 years, Don seeks to work through Northeast congregations and ELCA camps, nationwide, to expand the awareness and implementation of Thrivent generosity resources for serving others, especially those in need.
The Rev. Deric Taylor has been the pastor of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Fair Lawn, NJ since 2010. He has been a member of the New Jersey District: Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) Board of Directors since 2011 and is its current regional Vice President. He’s also been a Law Enforcement Chaplain for over a decade and is a member of the International Conference of Police Chaplains. A 35+ year Thrivent Member, Deric seeks to promote the tremendous blessings Thrivent offers to its members and potential members, in gaining fiscal security, as well as being an instrument of mercy and support to various people in need.
Our leaders work in the best interest of our membership––not third-party shareholders, like publicly traded companies. Clients with a benefit membership can vote in the annual election for the Thrivent Board of Directors. As the organization’s supreme governing body, the board focuses on serving the interests of the membership, both now and into the future. The board establishes and promotes Thrivent’s purpose and oversees major business decisions, and works with leadership to assess and manage risk.
