Regional leadership
The Thrivent Member Network regional board is made up of Thrivent clients with membership. The board provides leadership and strategic insights to help carry out Thrivent's mission on a local level. Clients with membership can have a voice by voting in the elections for the Thrivent Member Network board.
A passionate Thrivent member, Carlson had a life-changing experience with Thrivent Builds in El Salvador. The retired general manager of Verendrye Electric Cooperative is excited about the opportunity to further Thrivent’s mission and make others aware of opportunities for service in the region and beyond. “I hope to expand the vision of local congregations and encourage them to think more worldwide,” he says.

Dahl is a Senior Manager of External Affairs for Minnkota Power Cooperative. In joining the board, she wants to bring her experience to help with community engagement. "I was drawn to the message of Thrivent, which is helping people of faith holistically approaching this key part of life, their financial health, with a higher purpose - that is a beautiful mission."
Tonneson enjoys helping people by serving on various boards and committees. As a Thrivent Member Network board member, Tonneson looks forward to serving the Thrivent members in the Northland region by giving input on new and existing opportunities to help make their lives and membership have greater value.
Burt is an Assistant Store Leader for Scheels in Fargo, ND. In joining the board, he looks forward to new friends, a fresh lens on the needs in our community and an opportunity to leverage his experience to best help meet those needs. "I think our communities can be better for what I am willing to learn, share and do."
Dobberstein is an Executive Director for Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. She hopes to gain a better understanding of how Thrivent carries out its mission in helping communities meet the needs of their people and how she can play a role in helping our community to be a better place to live. "This is an opportunity outside of healthcare to meet new individuals who share a passion for improving the communities in which they live. I'm looking forward to meeting new people and hear their ideas and successes in their communities."
Our leaders work in the best interest of our membership––not third-party shareholders, like publicly traded companies. Clients with a benefit membership can vote in the annual election for the Thrivent Board of Directors. As the organization’s supreme governing body, the board focuses on serving the interests of the membership, both now and into the future. The board establishes and promotes Thrivent’s purpose and oversees major business decisions, and works with leadership to assess and manage risk.
