As the Vice President of Marketing, Communications & Visitor Experience with the Milwaukee Public Museum I hope to bring marketing and communications expertise where possible, grow professionally and become an ambassador for Thrivent.
I believe in Thrivent’s mission, and I am honored to have the opportunity to serve alongside talented board members in support of Thrivent’s goals and talented staff.

Yang is the Executive Director at The Gospel TLC & Pastor at The Cross Church in Schoefield. I hope that my diverse life background will add value to the board. I’ve also been working with a very down and out population and I hope to bring that awareness to the organization as well.
DJ Hines
Hometown: Milwaukee, WI
Congregation: Christian Faith Fellowship Church
DJ is the Chief Operations Officer of Christian Faith Fellowship Church in Milwaukee. My family has been serving the non-profit/faith-based community in greater Milwaukee for almost a century, striving to improve people's lives. As a faith-based executive for over 10 years, I have gained expertise and built connections in operations and administration. I'm thrilled to share my experience with the Thrivent team and help them empower lives of service and faith.
Linda DeGarmo
Hometown: Chaseburg, WI
Congregation: Middle Coon Valley
After the devastating loss of my 9 year old daughter, Tammi, I started my 35+ year journey of fighting cancer. I’ve held numerous volunteer leadership roles for the American Cancer Society, both in fundraising and advocacy. I started a non-profit called, A Place for Angels, with a mission of providing solace to families who have experienced the pain of losing a child. As Thrivent Member Network board member, I am excited to share the Thrivent’s mission and generosity programming to amplify impact and lift up the community. Prior to retirement, I was the Vice President of Operations at my hometown bank and owner of a restaurant/bar. Currently, I serve as the Clerk/Treasurer of the Village of Chaseburg.
Our leaders work in the best interest of our membership––not third-party shareholders, like publicly traded companies. Clients with a benefit membership can vote in the annual election for the Thrivent Board of Directors. As the organization’s supreme governing body, the board focuses on serving the interests of the membership, both now and into the future. The board establishes and promotes Thrivent’s purpose and oversees major business decisions, and works with leadership to assess and manage risk.
